Frequently Asked Questions

Are there separate Councils for the Zoo and The Wilds?

Yes! The Zoo and The Wilds operate as separate 501(c)(3) organizations and therefore donations are able to be designated to each entity separately. We would be thrilled to have your participation in each Council with separate donations totaling $10,000 (each).

I already gave a gift of $5,000 within the past 12 months. Can I give an additional $5,000 within 12 months to qualify for this Council?

Yes! We would be honored to have your additional support and subsequent membership in the Wilds Council.

I gave a gift of $10,000 within the past year supporting an event, conservation programs, education programs, or a capital project… does this gift count?

These gifts are restricted gifts and greatly needed and deeply appreciated. The Wilds Council, however, is dedicated to gifts to our unrestricted fund supporting our greatest daily needs.

Can I make a monthly donation to qualify?

Absolutely! We welcome your monthly gifts in any amount that total at least $10,000 within 12 months.

Does a matching gift from my employer count towards my total giving for 12 months?

While we greatly appreciate matching gifts and the added support they provide for our organization, these gifts do not count towards the total dollars needed to join the Council.

What updates with the President and CEO are provided during the Quarterly meetings?

While specific updates will be determined as the meetings approach, examples of updates might include capital project updates, animal collection updates, event updates, and strategic planning updates.

Is the President’s Colo Council and President’s Wilds Council different from the Colo Society and Wilds Society?

Yes!
