In the early 20th century there were fewer than 200 Greater One-Horned Asian rhinos living in the wild.

Thanks to conservation efforts to study and protect the species, there are now close to 3,500. The rhinos at The Wilds are an active breeding herd and are a part of an AZA Species Survival Plan.
