Fringe-Eared Oryx

Fringe-Eared Oryx

Oryx gazella callotis

Status: Vulnerable (IUCN)
Range: Northeast Africa
Fringe-eared oryx primarily eat grass, but in dry periods they will dig for melons, roots, bulbs, and tubers as both a food and moisture source. They can survive long droughts without actually drinking by storing the water gained from their diet.
