Primitive, Youth & Scout Camps
Scout groups, youth groups, and families alike will enjoy this primitive location for a lodging place while visiting the Wilds. There are 2,000 acres of wild and wooly country to explore, hike, mountain bike and watch wildlife on. Although the area has been surface-mined and many evidences of that still remain, the natural processes of repair are hard at work – re-growing and redeeming this area. It is set aside for wildlife habitat and your enjoyment, so please keep in mind the three R’s of all of our camping programs – Reverence, Respect, and Responsibility.
NORTH COUNTRY CAMP
Our primitive campsite is a quiet and out of the way spot for your camp out. Fire rings, port-a-lets, picnic tables, and over 14 miles of trails are provided. No water or electricity is available at this campground. North Country Camp is located north of SR 146 on Watson Road. As a North Country resident you are free to use the entire Northern end of the Wilds for hiking, mountain biking, birdwatching, and relaxing. Cost of a Wilds Safari Tour is not included. You will be on your own here, so please pay close attention to all camp rules (provided with confirmation of your reservation).
- Cost: $8 per participant/overnight (1 Scout Master is free)
- Dates: April - October

RENT A NATURALIST PROGRAM
While at the Wilds North Country Camp you can have your very own Naturalist present a program to you of your choice. Many of our Education Programs (link to Education Program Table) can be done with your group at North Country. You can also choose a topic of your own – tracks, birding, soil studies, etc. All Scout groups that take advantage of our Wilds Naturalist programs will receive a Wilds patch.
- Rent-a-Naturalist Cost = $4/participant (advanced registration required)
- Dates: April - October

MERIT BADGES FOR SCOUTS
During your stay at North Country Camp or just a day visit to the Wilds your Scouts can earn merit badges. Some of the Merit Badge topics are hard to find a location for and the Wilds is ideal! Boy Scout Badges that we are currently offering include: Fish & Wildlife Management, Reptiles & Amphibian Study and Bird Study. Most field oriented badges for Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and other youth clubs can be conducted by our Naturalist staff. Just ask!
- Cost: $10/scout (advance registration required)
- Dates: April - October
- Capacity: 10-25
