Sunset Safaris Offer Unique Opportunity to Experience the WildsCumberland, Ohio – The Wilds is offering visitors a special experience with weekly Sunset Safaris this summer. These twilight tours, offered every Saturday evening through the end of September, also include a buffet dinner at the Overlook Café. “Twilight is a very special time of day to experience the Wilds,” says Bobbie Harlow, Director of Visitor Operations at the Wilds. “For our Sunset Safaris, we have crafted an experience to take advantage of this time of day, when animals are often more active and the natural light offers enhanced photo opportunities.” Following dinner on the deck of the Overlook Café, guests board an Open-Air (weather permitting) Safari Transport for a guided tour through the Wilds’ expansive animal management area, where animals such as rhinos, giraffes and antelope roam in large natural habitats. The Sunset Safari tour is escorted by a member of the Wilds' animal management staff and includes a brief stop at The Lake Trail, which features a walking trail and overlooks the largest lake on the property. Guests also stop at some of the Wilds’ innovative animal management centers such as those for cranes, rhinos and other hoofstock. Sunset Safaris run from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.(4:30-7:30 in September) and cost $50 per person for Wilds members and $55 per person for non-members. Gift Certificates are available. Advance reservations are required, and can be made by calling the Wilds at 740-638-5030 or e-mailing reservations@thewilds.org. The Wilds is one of the largest and most innovative wildlife conservation centers in the world, with a mission to advance conservation through science, education, and personal experience. Located on nearly 10,000 acres in southeast Ohio, the Wilds is home to more than 25 species of non-native wildlife from Africa, Asia and North America and hundreds of indigenous species. In addition to innovative, in-depth science and education programs, the Wilds offers guided experiences to the public on selected days May through October.
