Volunteer Opportunities Available at the WildsCumberland, OH (March 30, 2009) – A variety of volunteer opportunities for area residents are available at the Wilds, one of the largest and most innovative conservation centers in the world. “I love having the chance to play a part in supporting the mission of the Wilds,” said Naomi Kirby of Chandlersville, who has been volunteering regularly for 20 years. “The Wilds has been growing all these years since then and it’s exciting to be part of that.” Volunteer roles include visitor greeter, office and clerical support, restoration ecology aide and more. The benefits of being a Wilds volunteer include the satisfaction of supporting important conservation work at this nonprofit center, and helping the Wilds fulfill its mission of advancing conservation through science, education, and personal experience. Volunteer requirements include being age 18 or older, attending volunteer training sessions, and becoming a member of the Wilds. Active volunteers receive recognition at an annual awards dinner. Additional benefits are based on annual hours contributed and years of service. “These volunteer positions are perfect for people who would like the opportunity to work outdoors in a beautiful environment, meet and greet other people, and assist professional conservation staff at the Wilds,” said volunteer coordinator Anita Allen. “It’s a great opportunity for those in work transition, college students, or anyone available to contribute any amount of time they have to offer.” Interested volunteers may contact the Wilds volunteer office
at 740-638-5030 ext. 2424 or volunteer@thewilds.org. Full information,
including a volunteer interest form, can be found at http://www.thewilds.org/get/volunteer.asp.
